Existem líderes que só surgem de tempos em tempos. E Bill Clinton é daqueles caras que transbordam inteligência, rapidez, clareza e liderança de uma forma fantástica. Ele foi "Presidente dos EUA" com letras maiúsculas. Letras enormes.

O duelo contra seus inimigos mortais da ultra-conservadora FoxNews foi espetacular. Enfrentou as ironias e agressões do entrevistador com coragem, decisão e elegância. E soube bater, na hora certa, ao dizer "e você fica com esse sorrisinho irônico, você acha que é tão esperto"...

Como dizia um ditado em 1998, "se Clinton fosse o Titanic, o iceberg teria afundado". Se não me engano até o próprio George W. Bush chegou a mencionar esse ditado uma vez.

Um trecho saboroso, transcrito pelo jornal canadense Globe and Mail:

Bill Clinton went on the attack during a weekend interview with Fox News Sunday when interviewer Chris Wallace regurgitated GOP talking points accusing the former U.S. President of doing nothing to capture or kill Osama bin Laden before 9/11, saying “Do you think you did enough, sir?” Clinton responded forcefully: “No, because I didn't get him ... But at least I tried. That's the difference in me and some, including all the right-wingers who are attacking me now. They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try. They did not try. I tried. So I tried and failed. When I failed, I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy and the best guy in the country, Dick Clarke, who got demoted. So you did Fox's bidding on this show. You did your nice little conservative hit job on me ... And you've got that little smirk on your face and you think you're so clever. But I had responsibility for trying to protect this country.".
